LA Galaxy South Bay Proudly Welcomes Tony Bruce to Boys’ Program

As part of the continued growth and revitalization of our Boys’ Division youth soccer program at LA Galaxy South Bay, we are extremely pleased to announce the addition of another veteran coach and manager to support and build our 20 new 2019/2020 season Boys’ Program teams!  Under the guidance of Boys’ Technical Director Paul Krumpe, LA Galaxy South Bay is excited to welcome onboard new Boys’ Division Director, Tony Bruce.

Tony is a Southern California-area heavy hitter in the field of soccer who has a wealth of experience, both as a player and a coach.

He has served on the staff of multiple college programs in the Southern California area including Loyola Marymount University (as the Lions’ Director of Operations), CSUN, Cal State Dominguez Hills, El Camino Community College, Antelope Valley College, Mission College and Santiago Canyon College (where he currently will continue to coach as a member of their athletic department staff).  Tony has also worked with nine different high school programs and more than a dozen club teams, most recently with Orange County Surf, but also as a staff coach and head scout with Real Salt Lake Academy of the U.S. Soccer Development Academy (USSDA), and as Director of Coaching for Boys for Fram Soccer Club.

As a youth player in Europe, Tony played for Drumchapel Amateurs (Scotland) and Partick Thistle (Scotland), and later for Leeds Academy, Manchester City and Bolton Wanderers. As an adult in the United States, Bruce competed for the Los Angeles Aztecs and San Diego Jaws, both of the North American Soccer League (NASL) and for the California Sunshine of the American Soccer League (ASL).  He also has 14 years of playing experience on a variety of teams in the Greater Los Angeles Professional League.

Tony holds a variety of coaching licenses including USSF National A, B and C, USSF National Youth, USSF National Goalkeeper, Brazilian B and C (Brusa), NSCAA Goalkeeper and NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching.  He has also served as a State and Regional Staff Coach with the United States Youth Soccer Association Olympic Development Program (ODP) and as a Coaching Education Staff Coach with the California Youth Soccer Association-South.

We are thrilled to have him on board as the Boys’ Division Director, working closely with LAGSB Boys’ Technical Director Paul Krumpe, who has successfully recruited an excellent, full roster of teams with talented young people for our Boys’ Program for this coming season.  Tony will also work in tandem with our Girls’ Program Director, Sal Diaz, and Girls’ Program Assistant Director, Diego Souza—and also with Tyler Krumpe, who was recently appointed new head of LAGSB Explorers, a developmental gateway program for our youngest male and female players looking to attain initial experience and exposure to a “club-type” play format.  With these exceptional managers at the helm of our Club, LAGSB proudly displays some of the most preeminent youth coaching and program management talent and credentials anywhere in the U.S.

Let’s welcome Tony to our soccer family—and make sure to look out for him on the pitch and at upcoming LA Galaxy South Bay local events this spring!
